Mrs. Amy Boutwell

Amy is in her 8th year as Biology teacher and Softball Coach.. She came to Columbia Academy in the Fall of 2002. She was born in Los Angeles, California and adopted as an infant. She attended school in Southern California through her sophomore year and then moved to Houston, Texas where she graduated with 576 students in 1981. Amy played high school fast-pitch softball, volleyball, field hockey, soccer, tennis and track. She played college softball at Stephen F. Austin State University and then transferred to the University of Southern Mississippi where she was one of the first fast pitch pitchers in the 80’s. She still holds the record for most doubles hit in a single game with 3 against Mississippi State University in 1983. She finished college with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mathematics with a minor in Biology. Amy met her husband, Lane, in the Spring of 1984 and was married in January of 1985. Amy lives in Purvis on a 20 acre horse farm where she has raised American Quarter Horses for 25 years. She has a daughter who graduated from C.A. in 2008 and is on scholarship to play softball at William Carey University. You can usually find Amy on the softball field with her assistant coaches Tammy Morris and George Darr from June to September. She also has coached numerous select softball teams to National Championships. |
