TRACK Students in grades 7-12 can participate in Track. To become a member, one must meet the eligibility requirements of MAIS and Columbia Academy, sign up, and attend practice. Practice is daily from 1:45 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. During this time, different groups will come to practice at various times. Coach Fails tries to make track accessible to seniors and those who play other spring sports. There are four different track squads. In the last three years, the track teams have won four district championships and runner up at least twice. In 2009, the boys placed 9th in the State Track Meet out of over twenty teams. Jamie Forbes medaled in the short put and Ashton Scarborough medaled in the 100 meter dash. In 2008, Cara Joyner was the first CA girl to medal by placing 3rd in the high jump. The 2010 teams are preparing to start this season now. The most pressing needs are improvements in practice facilities. We do not have a shot put pit or discus pit and cage. The runway for the jumps is broken and needs repair. The pad is torn up and too small to practice safely. There is no pole vault facility.
